The 53 Extra Care dwellings at St. Loyes, Exeter, were carefully constructed to be Passivhaus certified – the first of their kind to achieve this in the UK. The £9.8m project had to meet a number of criteria for high energy efficiency as well as for a comfortable and healthy internal environment.
Working to our client’s design, we installed the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health building services demanded by the stringent Passivhaus standard. This included a mechanical ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery, as well as processes to eliminate toxic materials and electromagnetic radiation.
St. Loyes is now making life easier for many elderly people with exceptional standards of care and comfort.
