19 September 2024

LEADING building services contractor Whitehead Building Services is basing its future growth on the excellence of its staff and, in particular, the quality of its apprentices, as it invests this year in 4 years of training for an additional 5 electrical and 5 mechanical building services trade apprenticeships, taking their current apprentices in varying stages of training to a grand total of 38.

The Newport-based business, established in 1978, is recognised as one of the UK’s leading providers of mechanical and electrical building services, as well as building maintenance services.

Operating from its headquarters near the centre of Newport, the business also has bases in Bristol and Cornwall.

Whitehead has built up an enviable portfolio over the years having worked on a number of high profile projects such as the BBC studios at Cardiff Bay, the science and innovation campus at Swansea University, the Celtic Manor Resort and its iconic Ryder Cup Club House,  Friars Walk Shopping Centre, Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar in Newport and many more: https://www.whiteheadbuildingservices.co.uk/our-track-record/

Operations director Mike Parry,  started out as an apprentice himself and said: “Apprentices are the lifeblood of our industry and our business. Many of Whitehead’s company directors and senior management team started their careers by undertaking an apprenticeship.

“And I am very proud to say that many of the Whitehead former apprentices were involved in delivery of some of our most high profile projects which as well as those listed above also include work at the Llanelli Scarlets Stadium, the Hitachi train depot in Swansea and in Cardiff University too”.

“In addition to trade apprenticeships we also offer project management and commercial routes, so there really is something for everyone in terms of what we can offer as a career path.”
