Starting Their Journey: Meet Our 2026 Apprentices

2 October 2026

This year, we are continuing our commitment to inspiring the next generation of tradespeople by welcoming 10 new apprentices across both our electrical and mechanical disciplines.

Supporting trainees in this way is driven by our belief in the importance of giving young people the opportunity to build a successful career within the construction industry. With more than 100 apprentices having joined and trained with Whitehead since the company was established, we have seen first-hand the skills, knowledge and confidence that an apprenticeship can provide.

Following their official induction, our 2026 apprentices shared their thoughts on starting their careers with Whitehead:

“My first month has been a good start, I’m learning new skills whilst also making friends along the way. I get on with my supervisors and I’m looking forward to adapting to site with the skills learnt here in the Whitehead Centre of Excellence.”

“My first month at WBS has been good. I have been learning new skills and becoming good friends with the other boys I work with. The supervisors have been helpful and fun to work with. I look forward to getting on site and learning more whilst I earn and becoming more experienced with my trade.”

“My first month has been great, very eye-opening into the construction world. I have learnt a lot and the supervisors have been very helpful and I am looking forward to seeing what else the future holds in my apprenticeship and I’m excited to get onto site.”

We also spoke to Rhys Morton our Managing Director, who said:

“I am delighted to welcome another cohort of aspiring young engineers this year. Having started my own career as an apprentice, I know firsthand the opportunities, experience and support that an apprenticeship can provide.

It has been rewarding to watch the progression of our apprentices over the years, with each generation bringing their own skills, ideas and enthusiasm to the business. Seeing them develop their confidence and knowledge, both on site and within the wider business is something I’m particularly proud of.

Our apprentices are an important part of the future of Whitehead Building Services and we are committed to giving them the training, guidance and hand on experience they need to build successful careers within the industry. I look forward to seeing what this lates group can achieve and watching them grow into the next generation of skilled professionals.”

From everyone at Whitehead Building Services, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our 2026 apprentices and congratulate them on reaching this exciting stage in their careers.

We are looking forward to supporting them throughout their apprenticeships, watching their skills and confidence develop, and seeing what they go on to achieve over the coming years.
